New Years Day Poems
On my knees.
I write while on my knees,
supported by a simple zen bench.
...I think of it
as
symbolic
[of the times
I am passing through....]
times that call
to my being:
"Have courage
to
let
your
heart
break open".

Unbroken.
The Dharma is an unbroken chain.
It is like blazing signal fires lit upon mountain peaks.
It is like a whisper too, or the feather-light touch of a lover inside a dream.
There is nowhere that the Dharma is not, for it...is....everyone's.
Those who see this know they are,
like the wind,
eternal.

Because...
Because the TV didn't work
I searched out the Rose Bowl game
on internet radio.
Because the game was between
two teams I could not see
I also checked my email.
Because I was (but didn't want to be)
'judgmental' toward the commercial pitching
of the charimatic rawfood guru,
I opened myself to his message.
Because I was listening for what was good
and right and true, I clicked the guru's link
to see the conference video,
and that is how I heard
the very wise and very real John Robbins speak.
Because I heard the very wise and real John Robbins speak,
I realized how good it is to feel humbled,
when recognizing that there are many
whose lives have gone so far
past the point of no return
that the remnants of the fence-sitter in me
is revealed to be my own small-minded insanity.
Because my own small-minded insanity
was revealed to me a bit more,
I feel saner, and more trustable, and more able...
and it does not feel quite as crazy
to 'walk in larger shoes'.
epilogue :-)
......as all of this took 'just the right amount of time',
it allowed for a remembrance and return
to the big game in it's last 'thrilling moments',
where the drama of the winner/loser world continued
".....as if...."
nothing
else
could
possibly
matter.

A Commentary on 'Agreement 1': Be impeccable with your word.
In the world of today, few people understand what is it to give their word. It did not use to be so....all it used to take was a handshake, given as your Word. What we have lost here is the fundamental reason we do not know who we are ( I am speaking culturally, not individually). For what we have lost is the certainty that we can trust each other. And of course, we then discover we cannot even trust ourselves.
Self-worth is a function of knowing ourselves as someone with 'a Word to give'. It takes a lot of unlearning to set down the cultural selfishness we have been trained to accept as 'the way things are', and to aim for and regain 'being a man/woman of your word'. But by the grace of the universe, the 'Force is with you' the moment you stand up and declare to life your will to truly live. That they are the same (having a Word, and Truly Living) will become self-obvious soon after, if it is not what got you to arise in the first place.
I am here as one-of-many assigned to stand beside your spirit, as appropriate, and when/if needed. I have others likewise assigned to stand beside my spirit, and they have others assigned to them in the same manner. It is, as spoken in Unbroken , a chain that is endless, and therefore a circle that connects all beings. Therefore, there are those also assigned to you. Perhaps me, also.
Simply remembering we are all in the circle is the first step to feelingthe call of The Way. The second step is like the first, remembering to Be True. For that is the essence of being impeccable.... no violation of Self... which is also :-) the essence of having a Word.
Namaste,
David
